The hamlet of Katonah is located in the northeastern corner of Westchester County, NY and is easily accessible by car, train, bus, and air.

By Car


Detailed Driving Directions

From New York City:
Take the Henry Hudson Parkway north to the Saw Mill River Parkway north to I-684 north to Exit 6. Take I-684 to Exit 6 (Katonah) Approximate drive time is one hour.

From Long Island:
Taking the Throgs Neck Bridge, go from I-95 north to I-287 west to I-684 north to Exit 6 (Katonah).

Taking the Whitestone Bridge, go from the Hutchinson River Parkway to I-684 north to Exit 6 (Katonah).

From New Jersey: Taking the Tappan Zee Bridge, go from I-287 east to the Saw Mill River Parkway north to I-684 north to Exit 6 (Katonah).

Taking the George Washington Bridge, go from the Henry Hudson Parkway north to the Saw Mill River Parkway north to I-684 north to Exit 6 (Katonah).

From Albany: Take I-87 south to Exit 17 toward I-84/New York 300/New York 17K/Scranton/Newburgh. Follow signs for I-84 E/Danbury then keep right at the fork and merge onto I-84 East. Go 31.5 miles to Exit 20S towards White Plains and merge onto I-684 south. Take I-684 south to Exit 6 (Katonah).

From Connecticut: Take I-84 west to I-684 south to Exit 6 (Katonah).

Or take I-95 south to I-287 west to I-684 north to Exit 6 (Katonah).

Or take the Merritt Parkway to Long Ridge Road. Take Long Ridge Road or High Ridge Road north to Route 172. Turn left onto Route 172 to Bedford Village and turn right onto Route 22 north through the Village. Follow Route 22 to the junction of Route 35. Turn left, cross over I-684 and make a left at the first traffic light.

From Greenwich: Take North Street or Round Hill Road through Banksville to the intersection of Route 22. Turn right onto Route 22 north, through Bedford Village. Follow Route 22 to the junction of Route 35. Turn left, cross over I-684 and make a left at the first traffic light.

By Bus

Katonah is on Route 19 of the Westchester Country Bee-Line Bus System. Route 19 runs between Ossining and Katonah and connects with five other bus routes serving Westchester Country and as well as local MetroNorth train stations (see below map). Buses operate throughout the day Monday through Saturday. Click here for the latest bus schedule.

Please note: Bus fare must be paid in coin exact change only or with a MetroCard. Reduced fares for seniors (65 years and older) and disabled riders are available. Children under 5 can ride free when accompanied by a fare-paying adult. Click here for fare information.


By Train

Katonah is on the 82-mile Metro-North Harlem Line which terminals in the south at Grand Central Terminal, New York City, and in the north at Wassaic in Dutchess County. It is approximately a one hour express train ride to Grand Central Terminal from Katonah.

During the weekday, trains run on a peak or off-peak basis with express or local service to and from Grand Central Terminal. On the weekends and holidays, north- and south-bound trains operate every 30 to 60 minutes. At the 125th Street station, there is connecting airport bus service to and from LaGuardia Airport.

Schedule, fare and travel information is available at the Metro-North website. Please note that bicycles are only allowed on certain trains. Please also be advised that while most trains have wheelchair access, only certain trains have Full ADA access.

Taxi service is generally available at the Katonah station at the east entrance.


By Air

Katonah is served by nearby Westchester County Airport (HPN), La Guardia Airport (LGA) and John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).

Six passenger airlines currently fly out of Westchester County Airport – American Airlines, Cape Air, Delta, jetBlue, United and Tradewind Aviation. These airline carriers offer non-stop service to many large American cities as well as vacation destinations in Florida and on Cape Cod.

Westchester County Airport is located in Purchase, NY, approximately 20 minutes south of Katonah off of I-684. For travelers needing a car, there are six car rental companies as well as taxi and limousine service at the airport. Arriving passengers can also take the Westchester Bee-Line bus route 12 to White Plains and take the Metro-North train north to Katonah.
